Hi! I’ve been dying to share this news and it’s getting very challenging hiding it, so here we are – Bryan and I are expecting a baby boy late-September!
We’re over-the-moon about this news and can’t wait to see Emmett as a big sister, which is crazy to think about because she’s still my little baby. That’s how it’ll be forever in my eyes but I’m excited to see her teach and care for him.
YOU’RE WHAT?!
We were trying for about 2 months so I was tracking all the good stuff through my Apple Health app. After 2 negative tests in January, I was ready to accept that it just wasn’t the month. Another week went by and I still hadn’t started so on our way to a college basketball game I asked Bryan to stop at a CVS “for lipstick”. It’s so silly, but I’ve never once told Bryan I was testing before taking it – only after.
Well, I bought the test in CVS, went straight to the bathroom to take it and got the news right there in the public bathroom. Glamorous, right??! Then I went and found a blue puppy teddy bear (it was the best I could find), bought that and went to the car where Bryan and Emmett were waiting for me. Bryan was so confused because I had a smile from ear-to-ear (let’s face it – nobody gets that happy about visiting CVS… or lipstick). I pulled out the teddy bear and said “we’re pregnant!”. There wasn’t a dry eye in the car! Including Emmett because she hates sitting in a parked car.
HOW IS MAMA?!
I’m 14 weeks along so I’ve just passed the first trimester. Honestly, I’M DAMN HAPPY ABOUT IT because the first trimester ain’t fun. I will say that it wasn’t the worst of the worst in the history of first trimesters. It did however come with more food aversions than with Emmett, exhaustion and a chicken noodle diet.
AND THE BABY IS A WHAT?!
IT’S A BOY!!! When we were pregnant with Emmett we waited to find out the sex via ultrasound, which took until I was around 20 weeks. This time around we wanted to know sooner and opted for the NIPT test (find out more info about that here!). Luckily, we were able to reveal the sex to our family at Emmett’s first birthday party. You’ll be able to see that video on my IGTV later today!
PHOTOS
Mandi (website here!) took our family pictures during Emmett’s first birthday photo shoot and I’m so thankful she did because they are gorgeous. Scroll down to see the magic and click here to see cake smash photos by Mandi!
I’m admittedly biased but she’s the best photographer in Katy – especially when you take everything into account. She has a wardrobe available for moms, makes you feel unbelievably comfortable during the shoot (I always get ridiculously nervous during shoots and she always makes it effortless), gives you options for locations and shoots gorgeous photos.
Now let’s talk price. Maternity, family and child portraits start at $300 and newborn collections start at $395. Reasonable, right?! She also offers all kinds of mini photo shoots during the year (think pics with Santa, mommy & me, etc.). Contact her at mandithompsonphoto@gmail.com if you want to book her or want more information!
